We had our first Rockabilly Car Show at Fat Cats Bar in 2004. This propelled us to a series of shows
small bars. With limited space we opt for a larger club. We had our first Big show called Ol’ Skool Fest ’ in
2006. We filled the parking lot at Marc’s Sport Grill with Hundreds of Kustom Hot Rod/Bikes. We had hundreds people
come through the door that night. We had a few more shows such as Kulturama, Summer Scorcher and then took a break for a couple
of months. Afraid that we were going to lose momentum, we put together The Summer Shut Down in the Fall of 2007 at the Yucca
Tap Room. All sorts of Vehicles showed up. Rat rods, lead sleds, muscle cars, low-riders, choppers, bobbers. We filled the
whole plaza that night again. That show ignited the flame all over again. With such
a great response we decided to search for a venue that could hold a larger amount of cars/bikes. We also wanted to do some
totally different at this show. We wanted to blend the music and the car show together. No separations. We rented out an old
dirt track in South Phoenix called, “ Manzanita Raceway“. It was a huge gamble but we needed a venue to house
the demanding interest in this culture. With an Old Stage in the Middle of the track we had 12 bands perform from 10am - 10pm.
All sorts of different style of music. We had HillBilly, Rockabilly, Psycho-billy and Swing . One of the bands ( The Booze
Bombs) came as far as Germany. We had Pin-stripers, fire eaters, and Pin-up Contest. This was our Peril. We had pulled of
the Biggest Rockabilly Car Show ever in Arizona, with 3000+ people through the gates. Two weeks later, we had another car
show at the Drive-In. Not as big as the Manzanita show but still very successful and also a first of its kind.
